difference between spdt and dpdt switches?

What's the difference between spdt and dpdt switch's? does anyone know? __________________ single pole double throw Double pole double throw A pole is a curcuit that is closed (ON) or opened (OFF). If you have two (as in double) you can connect or disconnect two curciuts at the same time with the switch. double throw: when you flip the switch one way it can connect a wire (A) to another wire (B) or if flipped the other direction connects wire A to a third wire(C). Single Throw would connect wire A to wire B if flipped one way (ON) and when flipped the other would connect to nothing (OFF) Basically a ON-OFF switch. The advantage of DPDT is that it can be used in many different applications such as turning off a light and turning on something else at exactly the same time and with only one flick of the proverbial wrist.
