Outrigger Reef or Marine Surf Hotel in Hawaii - any experiences?

Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels before at Honolulu? I got a pretty good deals on both of these but concerned about the quality of the hotel.

Outrigger is a quality hotel. I stayed at Outrigger on the Reef I think it was called. Everything about it was excellent. You can't go wrong with Outrigger.

outrigger is definitely a good hotel. im going up there actually this october for my anniversary.we're staying at outrigger waikiki for the first two days and the last 3 days we're staying over at the hilton in turtle bay hoping to see catch some good surf

oh, im paying 1,000.82 for the same duration as you leaving out of san diego but i have a rent a car also. compact though.

We stayed at Waikiki Parkside in March for $84/night. That was probably Miliary rate quote, though. It wasn't too bad, only 2 min. walk to Waikiki beach. Had nice view of Diamondhead, but also has awesome view of the new Hilton going up across the street.

We did have to pay $7/Night for parking, though.

I have stayed at two different Outriggers. One of them was pretty scummy, and the other one was fabulous. Don't remember which is which anymore without a map. There are probably 7 hotels in the Outrigger chain there in Waikiki. Make sure you're getting the one you think that you are getting.

I'm from Honolulu and I havent heard of the Marine Surf Hotel. But the Outrigger Reef is not bad. You can go to www.outrigger.com and click on the island of Oahu to get more info and even a picture of what the Outrigger Reef looks like.

Sklim,

I stayed at the Outrigger Reef in Honolulu. Got a package deal through TWA vacations and it is a pretty decent hotel. It is not the best on the block, but hell, your in Honolulu so you aren't exactly going to be in the hotel all that much anyway. Do be carful though because not all outriggers are the same. I don't even think they are owned by the same people (i could be wrong). But unless it has changed in the last two years, I think you will find it quite acceptable (if not luxurious).

Can you guys critique my site?

Hi everybody,

I've been working really hard on my new gaming web site over the past few months and I would like to know what other people think about it. Could you guys please visit it and give me feedback on load times/design/scripts/etc...

I use scripts to run the release calendar section, the news section, and the forums. I would especially like you guys to check out the forums, as I've heavily customized them.

The web site is new, so there's not much content, but I don't want to add too much content without the format being correct/good looking/etc...

Please try it out and let me know what you think. You can reply to this post or email me(dcsonic2k@hotmail.com)

Thanks,

That would be my fault. What did you see?

I made most of the images with Adobe Photoshop. The actual pages are made with MS Frontpage, but I just turned off all of Frontpage's "enhanced" features. It just made it easier to do the tables. A lot of the things (the left sidebar, right sidebar, advertisements) are done with PHP3 server side includes, which makes it really easy to customize. (Those had to be coded in by hand).

Thanks for all the comments, guys. I'm gonna work on optimizing the images today. (They're a bit big)

first of all, then was used instead of than for a comparison. secondly, in writing a "news" story, a writer should never reference the reader or make reference back to him- or herself (as in, "If you're at all familiar with us..."). Thirdly, the wording in your first question needs to be reorganized so that you do not end the query in a preposition (this problem with prepositions is not always an issue, but in this case, for sticks out like a sore thumb for some reason). The phrases, "Two words. Playstation 2." should be colonized, as you are re-defining the first phrase. You do not need to mention "amount of" when referring to time, as time is understood to be an amount. "The PS2 was not the hit of the event though. The game Seaman for the Dreamcast was." should become: "The PS2 was not the hit of the event, though; the game Seaman for the Dreamcast was." (Anyone know the proper notation for game consoles and game titles? Should consoles be underlined and games italicized?) "Why do you ask would these kids not flock to the PS2?" should either become, "Why, do you ask, would these kids not flock to the PS2?" or eliminate the phrase do you ask completely, as it is assumed the reader would be asking the question. Also, when you are writing prose (such as a news story), it is not good practice to use contractions. Sure, it may be perceived at a more personal level, but that level is reserved for editorials and personal comments rather than reporting facts. You must determine how credible you want your news to be. If you want to just "shoot the sh!t" and do the articles just for fun, leave it as is. However, if you want to be recognized among other internet sites as a credible news source, i suggest making some changes. Anyway, sorry to sound like an old crabby grammar teacher, but those are just some of the things that i noticed in your short little article. please read these suggestions with an open mind, as they were submitted with one as well.

Some things you could add in the future are a few dynamic elements, like button mouseovers. But not to much, that's no good. Your site already looks very nice so it doesn't need to much of those I think. You can also make the links to pages outside your site open in a new window. Then it is a lot easier for the visitor to remember where he/she is. And ofcourse, if your site gets bigger a sitemap might come in handy.

We have been freed from the "preposition curse" because we are not writing in Latin. In Latin, sentences did not end in prepositions. This is English. When Winston Churchill was PM he told some underling who tried to remove the prepositions from the end of his sentences, "This is arrant pedantry, up with which I will not put." Not that Coleslaw is pedantic .

If the console is the thing FROM WHICH you play the games, it need not be italicized or underlined. It is not a body of work. The name of the game itself, however, should be underlined or written in all caps. I dislike the use of italics, especially on websites.

Help: Got unsolicited pornographic email

Can y'all help me. I got an unsolicited pornographic email the other day and I'm not too happy about it. First of all, I would never solicit that kind of thing and so I'm very angry someone would just send it to me. I don't know the person who did it and when I tried to send an angry reply I got something back saying there was a terminal error or something to that effect. It was somebody whose ip was Earthlink and so I emailed them and told them how that was a violation of their codes of appropriate use and that I would see that it goes to the proper authorities. They sent me something back saying they might investigate it or not. What do I do? I don't appreciate that email and I really want to hunt this s.o.b. down and tell him not to do stuff like that anymore. Thanks for whatever advice you can offer. Jennifer

Do you object to it on invasion-of-privacy grounds, or because you don't like pornography. I mean, you're really steamed up over this, and I can't really figure out why. Considering the amount of spam we all must get from these deals, I can only imagine it's due to the content. Here's a newsflash: porn is what drives the internet. Always has, always will. If you have ICQ, you'll get some wacky message from "Pinkangl" or some silly name like that with an adult link.
Just blow it off, and focus your rage somewhere else, because getting worked up over a porn solicitation will get old for you quite quickly! My suggestion is to take it out on other drivers.

I feel for you but the truth is that almost eeryone gets spammed. I just turn on a filter for it and ignore it. But if the mail is directed to you directly to hurt you then that is a different story from the spam everyone gets.

Yeah, I don't like the porn thing. I understand that it's the way the internet survives, but why do they have to send it to me? I don't even know the person who did it. I don't think it's harassment, necessarily, but I don't think it's a very nice thing to do to someone.
As for road rage, well, I generally take out my frustrations on other drivers. Unfortunately, my driving record reflects that fact.....

I find it demeaning and a little frightening that someone could send that to me. Imagine if it were on the phone or door-to-door. It just feels unsafe and when you're a woman, things like that are particularly unsettling.

I planing on going on a 3~4 day vacation with some friends before school starts. One of my friends suggested Cape Cod. Is that a good place to go? what is there to do and where is located? Any suggestions on other place to? Keeping in mind I am in LI/NY so want a drivable place to go.

I actually thought about Toronto but don't know what to do there.

Disappearing Aircraft - The Answer

8-4-00

Dear Mr. Rense,

First and foremost, I wish my identity to remain concealed, as I'm not sure if the information contained in this letter is still classified or not. Should mine or my families names get out, we could possibly lose our clearances and Jobs, among other things. This goes for my E-mail address as well. Please don't publish anything that will compromise me or my family.

Their has been an inordinate amount of people around the web and in the press that have talking about disappearing air craft. From military planes large and small, to the huge "Commercial looking Chemtrail Air craft", from fighters to large bombers, to weather/recon balloons.

For some reason people tend to believe that if this technology exists, it has to be extraterrestrial in origin. Well they could not be further from the truth. The technology dose exist, and it is nothing more than common sense engineering. It is known to those that have privy to it as "Active camouflage".

I'm not exactly sure when the military/contractors first started experimenting with it or exactly when it was invented, but to my knowledge it was being implemented into the field from the mid Eighties and throughout the Nineties. I was in the military at that time, and was doing field modifications on certain missile systems that uses the technology. It is currently in use in civilian sectors as well...mainly in Law Enforcement SWAT teams. Though not widely spread yet as the cost is considered to be prohibitively expensive.

At one time, not to long ago, you could find the patent numbers for it and variations thereof on the GOV. Patent Office on-line belonging to several different companies, under different names. All were mysteriously bought out by Raytheon Defense Systems about 5 years ago. Hughes, Texas Instruments, and E-Systems just to name a few.

When I checked today they were no longer listed, which means the government still considers it technology of possible intelligence value, though already in use in the civilian sectors, and had the listings yanked under the cloak of National Security.

Here is a basic technical overview of Active Camouflage from my experiences working with it. I was not privy to the engineering of it, just to the implementation and fabrication of it. So, I only have a general understanding of how it works.

Active Camouflage, the term I know it by, is the technology marriage of fiber optics, TFT Active Liquid Crystal Display, and microprocessors.

The general premise of which is imaging data is received by the fiber optics, sent to the microprocessor control unit, then is sent back out to the TFT ALCD skin, or material. Effectively projecting, and displaying the imaging data (or surroundings) through out the Active Matrix LCD material. Being the Active Matrix type LCD, it can be viewed at any angle without distortion or loss of imaging detail. Some of the other advantages of this LCD material is that it is just like cloth, it can be sewn as a suite of clothes, (in the case of SWAT team snipers or military recon teams.) Or, it can be bonded to any surface that will take a bonding agent...like aircraft and certain guided munitions/missiles. It is very durable and light and has the ability to stand up to a fair amount of punishment and atmospheric friction without adding any measurable amount of weight (performance wise) to whatever it is being used with. It also requires very little electrical current to power it. A stealth suite of clothes like the police SWAT team snipers use, requires a nine volt battery in the microprocessor box. Which is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. I don't have any information on the power requirements that something as big as a plane may need, though I doubt if it would be more than 28 volts.

LCD is very energy efficient.

This is about all that I know off the top of my head, however if you have more questions on Active Camouflage, I can try to answer them. Now you know how something as big as a plane can seem to disappear in the blink of an eye.

The tactical reconnaissance TR-3B's first operational flight was in the early 90s. Technology assuredly developed from reverse engineering of recovered alien artifacts and programs such as the SR-74 and SR-75 was used in the TR-3B. At least three of the billion dollar plus TR-3Bs were flying by 1994.

The TR-3B vehicle's outer coating is reactive to electrical stimulation and can change color, reflectiveness, and radar absorptiveness, thus making the vehicle look like a small aircraft or a flying cylinder--or even tricking radar receivers into falsely detecting a variety of aircraft, no aircraft, or several aircraft at various locations.

Just curious as to what everyone was thinking, plus I wanted to see how much HTML I could put in here and still have things function.

There are learning computers now where code has been designes such that it evaluates its own efficiency. When don't even know the level of sentience (sp?) of animals like dolphins and elephants it's scary to thing computer might become self-aware.

Yeah, I meant silicon, Silicone is a Trade Name for a compound. Sorry, my mind is still off from summer vacation.

With respects to the Carbon/Silicon basis, I mean't we use a Central Quad binding molecule. Computers could use carbon for a base, but the parts wouldn't last nearly as long and everything would run ridiculously slow. That is until we learn how to properly use superconductants to build ultrafine microarchitecture. Imagine 0.020 micron devices as opposed to what we have now.

Cold fussion baby! I want my Diamond Rio Model 716546700 to play for 3 milleniums on an internal cold fusion reactor.

OK, I've had too much Dr. Pepper. I think we have an understanding. I bid you adeu.

The Book of Revelation according to Cayce

...

The final book of the Bible is called the Book of Revelation. Written by a man named John (possibly John the Apostle) toward the end of his life, he records a vision he experiences while in meditation. This vision contains a tremendous amount of symbolism; the same kind of symbolism one would see in a dream, a vision of the spirit world. In fact, it contains the same symbolism found in the prophet Daniel's dream. All such Biblical visions, such as Peter's dream of a sheet filled with unclean animals being let down to earth, are not to be taken literally. There are always hidden meanings behind the symbols. The symbols involved in such visions and dreams represent spiritual archetypes having a much deeper meaning than a literal interpretation. Such is the case with the Book of Revelation.

Shame, shame, gentlemen. Some ladies do read this site, you know. I don't know what the fuss is about. Oh, wait, I think they call it cleavage. Maybe I'm just jealous. AOL actually had a poll on its start page about who is the better singer: Britney or Madonna. I give Britney another year, tops. Madonna is the bomb. She is capitalism incarnate. Gotta love that. Britney is from around my part of Louisiana (I'm ashamed to say), where they have just erected (I'm not going to say just how apropos a choice that was) a museum to their local girl made good. Sad thing is, she will make more money in her last year of stardom than I will make in my entire life. And all because she was so well endowed with...well, just well endowed. Some things are just not fair. Hmmm.

i completely agree with you reagancajun. I think Madonna is a much better singer than Britney. I dont think Britney will be around for more than 3 years. ohh and one more thing, just because she's well endowed doesn't mean its natural.

I personally don't think Britney is endowed well at all. They just make her wear tight clothing to make it look like she is. In terms of today's pop culture, I think Christina Aguilera has a much better voice than Britney...Oh yeah, and I like her flat stomach

Ya there is no Doubt that Madonna is better that britney just look at their concerts, Madonna is mad crazy in concert and she actually sings everything...

**Need** Motorcycle purchase advice

Good morning all,

I am planning to purchase a motorcycle in the near future and I was wondering if any one had any advice on which one I should get.

I am planning to get a street/sport bike that is under 9K dollars.

I am currently looking at the Buell M2 and the Yamaha R1. Any suggestions?

Oh...SHOEI helmet? Which model? Shoei RF-200?

Thanx A bunch....

Need Deals? Forum a tad off base?

I do like the idea of a seperate forum for this, but it raises 2 issues. (1) Requests for deals sometimes lead to really good deals getting posted and may be overlooked if left out of the Got Deals? forum. Lots of people look at the responses to other peoples requests, and thus may be considered proper for posting on Got Deals? since this is the forum where people look for deals. (2) Many of the people that respond to requests for deals are regular posters on Got Deals? BBS. They may not want to take time to check a whole different forum to help out. Does anybody share my opinion? Or do you all think it's good? I am by no means complaining about the forums because i love having them around. It is just a question of whether it is necessary to have 2 seperate forums for topics so very closely related. Comments?

Movies for fri. 11

This will be short since i'm short on sleep.

Replacements is entertaining. Cheerleaders should have been in every scene though.

Bless the child looks rather funky. I've got mixed feelings on this one (that and i slept through half the movie)

Autum in N.Y. Watched it for five minutes and made me wanna puke. I do believe this is a chic flick
