ok, iwas scolded for posting another "favorite movie" thread without doing a search first (sorry), so now i did do a search for "favorite book", but didn't find any threads that fit the description, so here we go... __________________ well, i suppose that we, as a group, are just too busy watching movies to have a favorite book. What does that say about our education level? I, for one, still enjoy reading, and am currently reading "The Silmarillion", another book by J.R.R. Tolkien. Well, if any of you want to impress me, post away...if not...flame me.ProMinx __________________ I can say that Dean Koonez is my faverite author,, I love all his books.__________________ Anything by Clive Barker... the man is a friggin genius.Stephen King's Dark Tower series comes in a close second. __________________ All Agatha Christie books...Terry Brooks - Anything with the word Shannara in it.. =) __________________ I love Kurt Vonnegut's humor. I highly recommend Welcome to the Monkey House and Cat's Cradle. But I think my favorite book is still Catcher in the Rye. The Lord of the Rings was good, but I normally don't like reading books where I have to refer to maps and lists of names just to read it.__________________ Frankenstein. Starts really slow but really gets you hooked.__________________ a girls guide to fishing and hunting was awsome__________________ Quote:
i used to totally love Piers Anthony. I read the first 15-20 of his Xanth books (up until right before that one with Gargoyle in the title). That guy is so great with dual-entendre and sarcasm and sheer creativity, but he is a definite horndog... __________________ I love contemporary romance (Harlequin, etc.) but my favorites are Detective/murder mystery/fiction authors, such as Carolyn Hart, Sue Grafton, John Sanford, & Jonathon & Faye Kellerman. __________________ Fiction Watership DownNon-Fiction Chaos and Cyberspace Universal Mysteries Secret Teachings Of All Ages e-book The Satori Effect ;0) __________________ books suck all together but my fav forced book to read was that book with the rabbits(i fogot tha name fo now) __________________ i think you're talking about watership down, which renots just happened to mention, but i might not be correct...ProMinx __________________ Quote:
well, i was only around 7th grade or so when i read them, so...that side of his texts did definitely appeal to me... I can't even tell you how difficult it was to convince my mom to buy me a book called "the color of her panties" though... I hate how guys can brag about reading countless books about TROLLS but we women have to hide our love for a good, filthy, trashy novel. Proclaim it with pride! Fave romance: "Once and Always" -- Judith McNaught Fave mystery/horror?: "Watchers" -- Dean Koontz Fave fiction: "If Tomorrow Comes" -- Sidney Sheldon Fave sci-fi/fantasy: "Wizard's First Rule" -- Terry Goodkind Fave western (my latest interest): "Doc Holliday" -- Matt Braun Did I cover all the bases? __________________ I usually don't read books since I don't make/have the time to read interesting stuff. Afterall I have to read close to 500 pages of medical junk every week in med school. With that said, my fav book has probably been Les Miserables. If you saw the musical you'll probably know why. If you haven't heard the soundtrack, watched the movie, read the book, etc, you don't know what you're missing. Sure it was 1,400 pages, but it was awesome! Another book I read somewhat recently was called White Noise. I think people on this board who seem to love technology would enjoy reading it. It's a pretty easy read to, so look into it. It's a somewhat popular book and should be in most B&Ns. __________________ i just love the musical, Les Miserables. I've watched it twice, and I own the soundtrack, and have all of the mp3s. You just have to love anything that involves sucha depressing ending and hundreds of french deaths...ProMinx ps - there is also the ever-important lesson to never trust a french whore to be disease free...because they're all contaminated... __________________ All of JOHN GRISHAM and STEVEN KING.__________________ to quote Chandler's mom, from Friends, "the only thing that you need to be a successful romance novelist is a list of 37 different ways to refer to male genitalia."ProMinx ps - that stuff is seriously a woman's version of porn; women that read those can be exactly compared to some guy flipping through penthouse.
