Sample Review, what do you guys think?
Hey Darth, this is Y2J, the ayatollah of rock and rollah. I am here before you today with a review. Nah, its more of a Anandtech review. Just kidding, folks, WinME is on the horizon, and I have all the gritty details for you, from the greatly expanded Help section to the All-New and redesigned Start-Up screen. Yes, we have all been looking forward to this with the hope that it will improve our PC's performance. Rumor has it the Microsoft wants out computers to start in 30 seconds. That means less time staring at the new and improved WinME splash screen. Disappointed? You shouldnt be, on the horizon for Win98, but already included in WinME, is Media Player 7. MP7, as its knows by us 'inside' workers, comes with skins, that not only change the colors of the player, but also may change the shape completely. Let me explain, the "Headrush" skin gives the user a view of a green man's bald skull. But instead of a shiny bald spot, we see a small video screen where either movies play or audio visualzations swing to the beat of your favorite MP3. Also, the start menu allows more customizing than earlier versions on Windows. The control panel, printers, and dial-up netowrking are all expandable from the start menu. That means, that instead of clicking on the Printers icon and opeing the folder with explorer, you can see all of your printers while browsing your start menu. I can hear the ooh's and aah's now. I bet most of you cant wait to get your hands on this baby. But wait, and yes there is more. The Windows Movie Maker, actualy a useful program, lets you takes parts of an AVI, add sound, change the order around, etc. Very easy to use as well. It also comes with a Scanner and Digital Camera Wizard, which includes (up to June 28th) the newest camera and scanner drivers. Also, USB support is increased as brand new joy-mice work out of the box. Another extremely import item included out of package is the Windows Millennium Edition Preview. This includes an introduciton to the Media Player as well as some other very importand tips and tricks for use with your new OS. Got any questions? Email me, david@goclippers.com
