For all of you who took advantage of the $50 off $50 (which was supposed to be off $500), I hope you learned a lesson. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. __________________ what about the $100 at bolt? or all the 50 off 100 stuff? i mean, this was just dead from the beginning because it SAID 500!!!__________________ Larry - to an extent, I agree with you. People shouldn't expect to get $50 off of a $50 order. I didn't, which is why I didn't bother. However, this is an example of plain and simple idiocy on BUY.COM's part. First, they offer a $50 off $500 coupon that has an error allowing a $50 off $50 loophole. Fine, acceptable, everyone makes mistakes. But to then ship the purchased products to people, then order a recall is ludicrous! Everyone is allowed their mistakes, but if you don't set up a coupon correctly, allow people to purchase, and then, WITHOUT even looking at the receipt ship off the product, that's it! That is the end of the line. Credit cards have been charged, packages have been shipped, that's it. BUY.COM is well within its rights to cancel orders and/or notify customers of errors that it has made, but it is outrageous that they are giving consumers an ultimatum, post-order, of returning a product or getting charged more.-Ben __________________ I took "advantage" of the coupon for a nice video card. I got the e-mail, and I've given them authorization to charge me the $50 bucks. No big deal. However, I'm disgusted at what is going on at the AnandTech forum; I've deleted my bookmarks. __________________ Kudos to you Calaxer... You did the right thing. And I'm sure you got a pretty good price on your video card too.Ben Williams, I don't think it's fair to ask them to check every receipt because they probably get thousands of orders each day. I bet the situation got out of hand before they even noticed there was a problem. I agree that it's pretty rotten of them to ask customers to ship the item back, although I don't see any other solution. I think the bottom line is that both parties made mistakes. The customer made a mistake by trying to take advantage of a loophole in the coupon and the vendor made a mistake by shipping it out. __________________ Yeah, now the question is, if I send this back, will they refund shipping? hehe I also think that they cannot force you to send the merchandise back, as they sort of accepted your order by shipping it. I am gonna talk to some legal people on this.Bubba __________________ what exactly is going on at Anandtech?__________________ quote: Yea, what's going on at Anandtech? I keep hearing they are jerks...Remember, I've been to this board only 2 months. And this is the only board I know and go to. So, when it comes to Anandtech, Im pretty much clueless. But everyone refers them to jerks, and other so-called names. __________________ i mean we all know anandtech sucks regularly, but it somthing extra crappy going down with this buy.com bust?Mavi forum |
