The coke thing got me going... so... POP or SODA?

That thread about pepsi and coke got me wondering. I live out in washington and out here we call it POP, but when I go back to school in boston they call it SODA. Of course I get ridiculed, and have to bust a cap everyonce in a while..
ha ha

But I was just wondering what other people thought. I go with POP, and my friends here in WA do to, and my roommate from Minnesota called it POP too.

Us in the Northeast call it Tonic

Pop, no matter what kind it is. In fact, sometimes even Coke, no matter if it is Coca-Cola or Pepsi (which, to me, both are nasty--I drink the caffeine free diet pepsi most often. I know...sacrilige!)

everything her in OK is either coke or soda... a few people call it pop, but generally it's called coke.

down in brazil they call all the "soda" drinks "refrigerante" - translated it means refrigerant (sp?).

pop sounds so stupid, whenever i'm out east that's all i hear, you never hear that on the west coast. i mean, i dont know where the word soda came from, but where the heck did pop come from? was soda way more carbonated back in the day?

Down south, we call everything coke, or else by proper name. Soda? Pop?? Soda Pop? Those are all unusual to me.

Whenever I hear "pop" it reminds me of those old black-and-white TV shows like Andy Griffith. Then I think of it coming in an actual glass bottle out of one of those antique machines. Soda, on the other hand, connotes something modern--plastic bottles, aluminum cans. I don't know why. Like everyone else in CA, I call it soda, BTW.

No one here in Oregon friggin' cares. We call it what ever we want, so long as we don't call it 'spotted owl.' I made the mistake of doing that once, and right before i took a sip, some nature ******* kept telling me how imoraly wrong it is to drink an endagered species.

In Indiana we usually call it pop or just order a Coke. I usually just say "I'll have a Coke" or somthing similar, but my favorite soda type drink is Surge, but the BEST is Gatorade.
