help with flea problems?

My cat brought a lot of fleas into the apartment. There are so many around her bed that when you walk to feed her you will see n^10000 fleas on your feet. I wonder if you guys had this experience and if you can spare some advices to my dangerously infested home. I have definately had that problem before. Twice actually. You wake up one morning and you can't walk to the bathroom without having 30-100 fleas jump on your legs and bite the crap out of you. UGH. And I'm allergic to those little buggers. BAD. Simple solution: Get rid of your cat. My cat disappeared (bastard neighbor, I'd bet my life on it) and the fleas stopped. Realistic solution: Spray, spray, spray. Have your cat dipped. Get those Raid traps that have glue paper and a light on them to catch 'em at night. Fleas are attracted to light and they'll jump toward it and land on the sticky paper. A pan of water under a light works too, but add a drop of soap to break the water tension. Spray EVERY 7 days since that's just almost enough time for the eggs to hatch and not quite lay their eggs. If you do that, you'll have 'em gone soon. Keep spraying for 3 weeks after you think they're gone or you'll get a big surprise. Also, go to your vet and get something called "Program". It's a pill you give your cat (in their food) once a month and it makes any flea that happens to bite them infertile. So there are no eggs! I think it's about $5/monthly pill. It takes 30 days to become effective in your cat. I HATE fleas. Worse than I hate vegetables. Foggers work pretty well too. And a biggie..... VACUUM. Vacuum everything. The back of the couch, the baseboards, around and under the couch cushions, the drapes. Then immediately take out the bag and dispose of it outside your home. You also have to spray your yard since it's obviously full of them and they'll just come right in. Get some of that Off! Skintastic bug repellent and spray it on your legs before you get out of bed in the morning. Help your poor cat. You know he/she is really suffering. UGH! Better that he be bored than bring those steenking fleas into your apartment. I have a cat that would like to go out, but he has learned that HOME SWEET HOME is where he should be. __________________ Somebody killed mine. Seriously. Dip the cat, vacuum, spray and dont let it go outside. __________________ I had that problem last summer. I was staying in this crazy Chinese woman's house. She let me use a vacuum from her other house; only problem was, she never told me she had outdoor cats. I woke up with these stinging bites all over me. They kept biting at work, where I was a summer intern. Short story is, the office had to shut down for the day to fumagate, and I went to the home depot and bought four of those flea bombs (the fogger's you open, leave on for about 40 min, and leave the door closed for 3-4 hours). Worked really well, except everything, and I mean everything, in the room is covered with flea poison. I'd have the cat taken to the vet for a grooming and flea shot, bomb the hell out of the apartment, and spend the rest of your time cleaning up. Now I have some idea what to do other than killing them one by one. About killing fleas one by one, I found that fleas refuse to be squeezed. The only way I get rid of them is by sticking them on a piece of tape. Mavi forum
