Need help with stupid dumb Windows...

Can anyone give me a step by step walkthrough in order to accomplish the following:

-----------------------------------------
To resolve this issue, verify that the following registry key and its associated values exist. If they do not exist, create them:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{DA4E3DA0-D07D-11d0-BD50-00A0C911CE86}\Instance\{083863F1-70DE-11d0-BD40-00A0C911CE86}

The value name and value data information in this key should be:

CLSID={083863F1-70DE-11d0-BD40-00A0C911CE86}
FriendlyName=DirectShow Filters
Merit (DWORD value)=00600000

Only problem is that I think this problem is older than five reboots.
Someone said something about going and creating the key in regedit. I tried doing that, but I wasn't sure if I did it right...check that, I KNOW I didn't do it right because the stupid WMA still won't play properly.
Can someone walk me through a regedit key creation?

I would create a registry file. Make a text document. Then cut and past the following into it:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{DA4E3DA0-D07D-11d0-BD50-00A0C911CE86}\Instance\{083863F1-70DE-11d0-BD40-00A0C911CE86}]
"DirectShow Filters"=dword:00600000

------------------------
Save the text document and then change the extension on it from .txt to .reg. Double click on it to install.
