Anyone thinking of buying the new Sony Clie?

The Sony website says its available in late Sept (for $399).
Only monochrome screen available. (bummer-no color)

Just wanted to know your 2 cents

if a red gorilla type deal ever popped up for one i'd keep it, but i cant see myself ever needing one of those things, nothing is that important that i want to have to carry the damn thing around all the time, i already have a cell phone and a pager and i hate them

That would be nice if Sony and Red Gorilla would do a promo, but I doubt they would on such an expensive item. (I mean if so, then Red Gorilla would have offered the Palm Vx in their offer instead of the IIIe/M100)

But we can always hope...

Not a chance in hell. I paid the premium necessary to get a Sony Vaio, but am not going to spend almost the price of a top-of-the-line Pocket PC to get a glorified Palm III. Sony missed the boat on this one.

Isnt it more a glorified Palm Vx since there is 8MB of memory? Also, what about the 8 MB on the memory stick?

BTW I do NOT work for Sony. I am coming back to the US in about a month or so, and am looking to buy a PDA and am trying to choose between a Palm Vx, Handspring Visor Deluxe and a Sony Clie.

The memory stick is a great concept. Decent sized memory, small format. BUT, it's been done already....twice. Namely Compact Flash and SmartMedia. MemoryStick is proprietary, and much like Beta tapes, you won't be able to find it in a couple years. And if you do find them, they'll be expensive.

I heard Palm is coming out with their own removeable/upgradeable memory, that will be not be compatablie with Sony's memory stick nor Handspring's Springboard modules.

Its a conspiracy, I tell you...
