ok, I've been reading some contest rules for an autodesk contest, and I notice this: A Canadian winner will be required to correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question in order to receive prize. __________________ Hehe, I think this is some kind of lawyer joke, this same statement was in the contest for the Win ME giveaway. I posted this exact thing for that. Lol Canadian conspiracy.__________________ what is all the fuss aboot, eh?__________________ and closer__________________ I heard about this for anothe giveaway. I think someone said that there is a law in canada that all contests must be based on skill or knowledge, I cant remember which. So when there is a drawing or something and someone in canada wins they make them answer a question like 1+1 so there is some skill (or knowledge, which ever it was) involved.__________________ It's because up in canada, a game of chance is considered a lottery, and they have to have a permit to let their contests be open to canadian residents unless they answer a question, therefore classifying it as a test of knowledge.__________________ ChrisMG is right. Usually, it'll be something inane like an order of operations question. Rarely have I seen something like a trivia question...usually it's like 2+3x4=?.None too difficult. It promotes smrtness. __________________ pshh, even a canadian would know that the answer to that is 9!!! __________________ Quote:
Whoa whoa. . .wait a minute here. 2+3X4 is easy?!?! Uh do they get to use a calculator? hehe. __________________ Quote:
Calculator?! what the hell are you talking about?! You need Mathmatica or Maple for that! __________________ Hehehe rev, what if I wanted to have Steven Hawkings at my side. Could that be arranged? Oh wait. . . I'm not Canadian. . . never mind.__________________ I bet even Steven Hawkings would need a calculator. I've noticed that the more advanced math my brain encounters, the more I use a calculator as a crutch because I am not used to having to do mundane calculations. Sure, I can solve a third order differential equation, but I can't multiply 124 x 56 in my head! haha |
