Last chance at the WEGA experience...

OK, it's been a pretty long, drawn out saga (basically, because I'm either too busy or too lazy to close the deal on this one) but I'm finally going this weekend to purchase the TV's. Let's review, boys and girls: [from the old post]

First, I called around, the Good Guys had the best deals:
XBR400: $1,999, $2,163.91 after tax
FV16: $1,299, $1,406.16 after tax
FS12: $999, $1,081.41 after tax

I can get these signed, sealed, and delivered at these prices. Remember, these are all after tax.

  • XBR400: $1590
  • FV16: $1025
  • FS12: $845

I feel like Cal Worthington, here, but...
YOU SAVE!:
XBR400: $ 573.92
FV16: $ 381.17
FS12: $ 236.42

It's not a bad deal, if I do say so myself.

You'll notice the above bolding: these will be delivered to yer doorstep, so long as you're in the continental US

As always, if you are interested, please email at iwannawega@mail.com
Some things you need to know:

  • There's a full warrenty on them from Sony
  • There's a 4-6 week waiting period for them ( I know, I'm grumbling about that too, but that's what I get for pussyfooting around with this)
  • I can get two and only two in addition to the ones I'm buying myself

More importantly, if you do want one, try and think of an equitable way to pay for this. I'll have to go and purchase these things on my CC, so cash in hand will be requisite, because I can't cover the cost myself, plus I don't want people crapping out at the last minute and I get stuck with two 32" TV's. Now, I know that may seem dodgy, considering you won't see that fruits of your cash for 4-6 weeks; meanwhile, you have devious ol' me sitting there with your money. I can't think of a better way, since I need the cash to pay the CC bill before the TV arrives :frown: Any ideas.
I promise, this will be the last you guys hear of this, I know I've posted a couple of false alarms. E-mail me if interested...

I have a question. Where do you purchase the WEGA for such a great deal?

Those are GREAT prices. I would consider getting a WEGA, but I just got a 5 piece set of Paradigm speakers. It would have been a great match with the WEGA... Oh well. Let me know if you ever get any 36" ones.

Hapoo: I'm sorry, Chris Rock's money is no good here!
Spidey: I imagine my friend could, but you know how employment is...variable!

So long as this Ohio place is in the continental US, yes.

last time i checked, ohio was located somewhere between the mississippi river and the appalachian mountains, and oh yeah, the great lakes are around there somewhere too. i guess this means that it is on the continent on which the united states is located, right?

forgive me for sounding stupid, but what exactly is this WEGA stuff? i have heard of it before but never been able to figure out what it is exactly. is it digital, hdtv, flat screen, what? since i am not in the market for a large tv right now, i am not up to par on the lingo. the only tv i own is a 13" samsung and my 19" monitor with tv tuner card. how bout them apples?

I have the 36" fv15, and I love it. But watch out for the A Board, i've had the tv replaced twice because of it. What happens is if you move the tv, (even around your house, which is no feat at 260pds) the tube is so heavy that when you set it back down it cause stress on the A Board. Beware.

ok,ok
check it out.

I'll give you 16 cents if you'll let me watch TV on it for an hour.

No deal. You might never pay me, then accuse me of fraud.

It's a Sony flat screen TV with digital comb. It's not HDTV (DTV). I have a 32inch XBR. God, I'll never go back to the ole curve screen.

I agree. In a perfect world (i.e., I had the cash to cover the CC bill) I could just set up a trust with an attorney and we could do it like that. HOWEVER, since I don't, we're kind of stuck with paying me the cash and then waiting. I could give my home address so you could firebomb the place if I took the money and ditched, but then again, if I took off with your money, I guess I wouldn't be staying at home anyway...hmm...a connundrum indeed.
All I can say is I'm not trying to run a scam here, and have never been arrested...for a felony, anyway.

Anyhoo, I think I'm going on Friday or Monday to buy them, so that's your drop-dead date. Lemme know.

2 words: escrow service
__________________
Didn't even know what an escrow was, but it looks like the answer to our prayers!
On a $1500 TV, the fee is $57 and change, not too much for your peace of mind (even though I'm a pretty trustworthy guy). Like I said, I'm only the conveyance for this whole transaction, so I'm not willing to pick up the tab on the escrow costs. But if this makes it more appealing, hey, I say do it. Escrow.com looks as trustworthy as any, although I know eBay uses i-escrow or something like that.
I just want to make sure, these services pay first and then I order the thing right? Doesn't have to be immediate, just before the payment on my CC is due.

You can thank me later pennypinch!

No, I never see your TV's. Actually, I found out recently (well, when I found out the delivery is included in the price) that these actually CANNOT be bought without the delivery. That might be a good thing, considering the above post about busting the "A board", whatever that is.

Any word on the price of these yet?

1) 36" FV16
2) 36" XBR

I e-mailed him, Leon, haven't heard. I'd proably wager around 2K for a 36" XBR, but it might be more...it's pretty new, I think.
