Anyone try the priceline.com gas deal?

Has anyone else tried priceline to buy their gas? Seems like a good deal - especially for someone with an SUV like me... I got 30 gal @ 1.28 - are their any "catches" I should worry about?

Thx,

If don't cancel before 3 months, they charge you $3/mth.

I think the carclub.com deal is better. Pay just a few bucks a month and get a 10% off gas card plus a lot of other extras like they pay your deductable if you're in an accident, etc.

Plus, if you want to search the deals forum, I posted some promo codes about a week ago that get you something free for signing up for their free 30 day trial. A $15 Amazon GC, a $20 gas card, and something else I think.

I'm using it now. Save around 20¢ in NYC. But gotta use Sunoco.

It cost $3 a month, only if you use it. If you don't use it that month, no charge. Also if you are a priceline grocery buyer, than that $3 is for BOTH the grocery and the gas.

I've tried using priceline gas a few times but they've always rejected my offer... setting my sights too low I guess. I guess I should be stunned that it's offered in my area at all.

Oh, a few questions:

How do you know how much gas is left on the card? If you pump more gas that the amount on your card, then what happens? When you're pumping gas, since the prices are different, do you just watch the gallon meter? And finally, at places where you prepay gas, how do you make it work - do you just tell them how many gallons you want because prices would be different?

Don't have any answers to all of the questions, but one. I think Priceline will email you after you use it to let you know how many gallons you have left.

Here's my experience with it. Last week, I did it and got regular unleaded for $1.35/gallon, 20 gallons, for $27 charged to my debit card. (Which took it out of my checking acct.) I already had the card, so the next day, I thought I would call the gas station to make sure that there would be no problems when I went to get gas that afternoon. The gas station will not take priceline cards right now. They didn't know anything about it!! So now priceline is 'investigating' it. I'm NOT happy!!!
